Kybella® is a non-surgical solution for submental fullness, more commonly known as “double chin.” In addition to treating moderate to severe submental fullness, Kybella® can help to sculpt the jawline by destroying the fat cells that lead to jowls. Kybella® does not, however, tighten the skin and may not be the best solution for jowls in women and men who have lost elasticity in the skin.
The Best Treatments for Jowls
There are several treatments – both surgical and non-surgical – that can help to tighten the skin underneath the chin and along the jawline. Some of the most popular treatments at our East Greenwich office include:
- Ultherapy®: a non-surgical skin tightening solution that uses ultrasound to stimulate the body’s natural regenerative response
- Vivace™ Fractional Micro Needle RF: a non-surgical treatment that combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen and elastin production and gently tighten the skin
- Dermal Fillers: we offer fillers from the Juvéderm®, Restylane®, and Sculptra® families to lift sagging skin along the jawline
Many of these treatments can be used to address issues in addition to sagging skin, such as fine lines and wrinkles, with little to no downtime. Some may also be useful outside of the face and neck area, helping to restore a tighter, smoother, and more youthful look to adjacent areas, such as the décolletage.
Combining Treatments
Kybella® is specifically designed to eliminate excess fat beneath the chin. In some instances, surrounding skin will retract on its own as this fat is reduced. In others, it may be best to combine procedures for optimal results.
Most non-surgical cosmetic treatments can be combined to help address several issues at once. The best way to learn if a combination of treatments will be best for your needs is through a one-on-one consultation with board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Andrea Doyle. Thoughtful, attentive, and experienced, Dr. Doyle is here to listen to your concerns and help guide you towards the most beneficial treatment options.
