While it’s no longer summertime, using sunscreen during the cooler months is still important. UVA and UVB rays can cause premature aging, sun spots, and even dry skin. Unprotected skin is also at heightened risk for developing skin cancer.
There are different types of sunscreen, each working better for different individuals and needs. We would be happy to help you determine which will be best for your skin during your next visit to our office.
This short video below was made for summer but is no less applicable in the winter. If you have questions or are interested in learning more about our professional skincare services, please call the Centre for Aesthetic & Reconstructive Surgery at 401-336-3770 today.
Your consultation at the CentreFARS will depend on whether you are interested in a plastic or reconstructive procedure or skin care treatment. You will meet with Dr. Doyle or our skilled aesthetician and discuss your cosmetic goals for your face and body. We will answer your questions and go over your options to find the right procedure to address your concerns. Learn more from Dr. Doyle in the video below.
If you are interested in a plastic or reconstructive surgery or a skincare procedure, contact the Centre for Aesthetic + Reconstructive Surgery in East Greenwich today at (401) 336-3770. Dr. Andrea Doyle and our friendly staff serve patients in surrounding Rhode Island areas, including Providence.
As a respected plastic surgeon and breast reconstruction specialist, Dr. Doyle sees many women who are in the midst of or just finishing their treatment for breast cancer. Just as breast reconstruction is an important step in helping women regain their sense of femininity, so is helping them restore a healthy complexion.
The holidays are upon us! As we enjoy the season with family and friends, we tend to feed our souls and stomachs—but our skin also deserves a holiday treat. A multi-step, technologically-advanced facial treatment, HydraFacial MD’s detoxifying, rejuvenating, and protective qualities pack a nutrient rich feast for your complexion in a single session. With a bounty of skin-healthy ingredients, HydraFacial MD is the perfect recipe for glowing skin this holiday season.
It can be a challenge to keep your skin and hair looking and feeling young, healthy, and beautiful. UV exposure, air pollution, and the changing weather here in Rhode Island can make your skin appear rough and can be damaging to your hair. Along with these external irritants, our body naturally breaks down skin-healthy elements like collagen and elastin—all together, encouraging premature aging.
Here at the MedSpa of Rhode Island we offer both Fractional Non-Ablative and Ablative treatments.
Non-Ablative Fractional Laser Resurfacing safely delivers heat into the skin. The laser itself does this by creating thousands of invisible tiny columns into the skin. These columns work beyond the surface of the skin. They are delivered deeper where they can gradually stimulate collagen. On average, most patients need 4 treatments and will see full improvement at 6-8 months. Fine lines and wrinkles will begin to lessen and appear softer. Pore size and acne scarring are also improved. This treatment is not instant gratification but long term it is a very safe and effective way to improve the appearance of your skin.
Non-Ablative treatments require no actual downtime. Most patients look and feel sunburned for a few days after the treatment. Mineral make-up, such as Colorescience, can be applied.
Call our office for a complimentary consultation with Anne, our medical aesthetician to discuss if this treatment is right for you!
As many of our patients already know, we offer cosmetic surgery procedures, injectable treatments, laser skin resurfacing, medical facials and a wide range of skin care products. We offer such a wide variety of treatments/procedures at our office because many times “Combination Therapy” will help you to achieve the best results of what you’re looking for.
Facial cosmetic surgery can be enhanced with facial fillers and injectables. Facial laser treatments are always more effective when combined with top-grade at-home skin care products.
The foundation of everything we do here at the MedSpa of Rhode Island beings with the quality of your skin.
Many patients do not realize what an amazing difference quality skin care products make until they have been using them for 3-6 months. The next thing they know they are looking at a picture of themselves and become pleasantly surprised!
Our products are not just “feel good/smell good” that sit on the surface of the skin, rather, they are hand-picked because they deliver results. They nourish your skin cells and gradually make positive changes.
Dr. Doyle and Anne, our aesthetician, can customize a surgical or non-surgical treatment plan for your specific needs.
Please feel free to call the office at 401.336.3770 and set up your consultations!!
It’s that time of year again…..
The air is cold and dry and for many people that causes dry, tight, flaky skin. It is important to tackle this issue externally as well as internally.
Staying hydrated on the inside is essential. Drinking homemade bone broth is both tasty and nourishing. This beverage is loaded with minerals, protein, and gelatin. Gelatin helps to calm inflammation internally. Keeping inflammation at a minimum benefits every cell in your body. Glowing, hydrated skin is just one of the many benefits to drinking this super food regularly. Another simple way to stay hydrated is to drink warm water with lemon. This beverage also has a very long list of benefits including helping to flush out toxins, improve digestion and it is a great source of Vitamin C.
Be sure to incorporate plenty of “good fats” into your diet, such as avocado, walnuts, and wild salmon. You can also drizzle olive oil on your food. Yummm!!!
These delicious foods will help support your entire system as well as keep your skin hydrated.
One last tip: sleep with a humidifier in your room as needed!
Stay tuned for Part II!
Anne Corey Medical Aesthetician
Winter is the perfect time of year to have Intense Pulse Light treatments (IPL). This treatment dramatically improves broken blood vessels, rosacea, and sun damage/hyper-pigmentation caused by the sun’s damaging rays.
The IPL is not a laser, it is actually a light based treatment that can be safely used on skin types without a tan.
The face, chest, arms, and hands are very common areas with sun damage that would respond well to IPL treatments. Most patients need 2-4 sessions scheduled at four-week intervals for best results.
You can expect to feel a very mild sunburn-like sensation for 24 hours or less. Sun spots typically look darker for about 1 week then flake off on their own. The final result is a more even skin tone. Most patients feel they need much less cover up/foundation after having this treatment.
Call our office today for a consultation with Anne, our medical aesthetician. She can evaluate your skin and help get you glowing in no time!
