Cold Weather is Perfect for Plastic Surgery

All surgical procedures require a recovery period. Some of these are short – requiring only a few days before normal activities can be resumed – but many necessitate a reduction in activity that can last for several weeks.

If you have been considering a plastic surgery procedure, now may be the best time to take action. Recovering during the cooler months, when activity is already limited, can help to reduce interruptions to your lifestyle. It can also help to ensure that once the warmer weather returns, you’ll be all set to show off your results.

Popular Plastic Surgery Procedures

Some of the most popular plastic surgery procedures at our East Greenwich office include:

  • Body Surgery such as liposuction, tummy tuck, and thigh lift surgery
  • Breast Surgery including breast lift, breast augmentation, and male breast reduction
  • Facial Surgery such as eyelid lift

For some patients, these procedures will produce ideal results on their own. For others, a combination of procedures may be needed to help produce the most pleasing outcomes. Combining procedures can help to reduce recovery time as well, making now a good time for both stand-alone and more involved treatment options. Use the contact form on this page or call our office today to schedule a consultation and learn more.

Taking Time Off

Depending on factors unique to each procedure, initial recovery from plastic surgery can take anywhere from five to fourteen days. It may be one to two weeks before you can resume working and eight or more before you can begin to perform more demanding physical tasks.

Make sure you create a space that is comfortable for your recovery and arrange for help from a trusted adult during the first week or so to prevent overexertion. Your safety, comfort, and satisfaction are very important to us. We will work directly with you to provide you with additional suggestions and help optimize your recovery experience.

Facial Rejuvenation for the Holidays

The Holiday Season is right around the corner. If you are dissatisfied with the way aging, genetics, and environmental factors have changed your appearance, now is a great time to start looking into the non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments that can help to produce a softer and more youthful appearance.

While it may seem early, acting now can help to ensure the most noticeable results in time for the Holidays. Many non-surgical options offer near-instant results, but will continue to improve skin texture and appearance for several weeks. If you are considering facial rejuvenation, use the contact form on this page or give us a call to schedule a consultation and learn more.

Injectables and Fillers

One of the safest and most reliable ways to achieve a more youthful appearance is with injectables and fillers. At the Centre for Aesthetic + Reconstructive Surgery, we are pleased to offer a selection of dermal fillers from the Restylane®, Juvéderm®, and Sculptra® families to address facial sagging, hollowness, lines and wrinkles, lip asymmetry, and more. Many of these products produce swift results that can continue for several months without a touch-up.

We also offer BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®, two incredibly popular options that can address issues such as frown lines, crow’s feet, and skin laxity to help restore a smooth and pleasing appearance. These injectables work immediately and can continue to produce results for three to four months, making them perfect for reliable facial rejuvenation before the Holiday Season.

Several Other Options

Kybella® is a non-surgical solution for submental fullness, more commonly known as “double chin.” In addition to treating moderate to severe submental fullness, Kybella® can help to sculpt the jawline by destroying the fat cells that lead to jowls. Kybella® does not, however, tighten the skin and may not be the best solution for jowls in women and men who have lost elasticity in the skin.

The Best Treatments for Jowls

There are several treatments – both surgical and non-surgical – that can help to tighten the skin underneath the chin and along the jawline. Some of the most popular treatments at our East Greenwich office include:

  • Ultherapy®: a non-surgical skin tightening solution that uses ultrasound to stimulate the body’s natural regenerative response
  • Vivace™ Fractional Micro Needle RF: a non-surgical treatment that combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen and elastin production and gently tighten the skin
  • Dermal Fillers: we offer fillers from the Juvéderm®, Restylane®, and Sculptra® families to lift sagging skin along the jawline

Many of these treatments can be used to address issues in addition to sagging skin, such as fine lines and wrinkles, with little to no downtime. Some may also be useful outside of the face and neck area, helping to restore a tighter, smoother, and more youthful look to adjacent areas, such as the décolletage.

Combining Treatments

Kybella® is specifically designed to eliminate excess fat beneath the chin. In some instances, surrounding skin will retract on its own as this fat is reduced. In others, it may be best to combine procedures for optimal results.

Most non-surgical cosmetic treatments can be combined to help address several issues at once. The best way to learn if a combination of treatments will be best for your needs is through a one-on-one consultation with board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Andrea Doyle. Thoughtful, attentive, and experienced, Dr. Doyle is here to listen to your concerns and help guide you towards the most beneficial treatment options.

The Most Popular Plastic Surgery Procedures

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) releases an annual report on plastic surgery trends. Included in this report are the most popular surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures performed by board-certified plastic surgeons throughout the country.

The 2020 Plastic Surgery Trends report has just been released, identifying the five most popular surgical options as:

In this same report, the five most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedures in 2020 were identified as:

  • Neuromodulators (BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, etc.)
  • Soft Tissue Fillers (Juvederm®, Restylane®, Sculptra®, etc.)
  • Laser Skin Resurfacing
  • Chemical Peel
  • IPL Treatment

Due to the pandemic, there were fewer plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures performed in 2020 compared to 2019. However, the continuing trend is upward, with an increase of 22% and 174%, respectively, when compared to the year 2000.
