When is the right time to start Botox or Dysport?

Botox and Dysport have become the standard for facial rejuvenation without having to go under the knife, they are practically household names!  Both of these products provide real results without any downtime.

Botox and Dysport are purified proteins that block nerve impulses, paralyzing the muscles they are injected into.  This paralysis is what reduces or eliminates the pesky lines and wrinkles which drive us crazy!  The result is a smoother, refreshed appearance for 3-4 months at a time.

These praised neurotoxins have created a bit of controversy of late with media reports of celebrity and teenage preventive use on the rise.

So, when is the right time to start using Botox or Dysport?

WHEN – is very patient dependent.  Everyone ages differently, so a there is no standardized age when a patient should starting considering treatment options.

The BEST time to start Botox or Dysport injections in when age lines are minimally visible or unformed.  For most, this starts to happen in the late 20s or early 30s.

Studies have shown that if injected in this early stage, neurotoxins can actually soften and retrain the muscles.  If injected regularly at 3-4 month intervals, this softening and retraining can actually be preventative – reducing the formation of wrinkles as one ages.

Simply put, a reputable, board-certified plastic surgeon will discourage a patient from pursuing an unneeded or unwarranted treatment.

If you are concerned about current or developing age lines and wrinkles, set up a consultation with a board certified professional first.
