Will Eyelid Surgery Improve My Vision?

Will Eyelid Surgery Improve My Vision

Blepharoplasty, more commonly known as eyelid surgery or an eye lift, can improve vision in people with droopy upper lids. With this procedure, upper lids can be gently lifted to reduce vision obstruction, creating a more youthful and alert appearance in the process.

In addition to addressing droopy or sagging upper eyelids, blepharoplasty can correct issues such as puffiness and dark circles around the lower lids to produce a better rested and more appealing look. The procedure can be performed on both upper and lower lids at the same time when needed.

Is Blepharoplasty Covered by Insurance?

Eyelid surgery is not typically covered by insurance. However, if your procedure is deemed medically necessary by an ophthalmologist, your plan may cover upper eyelid rejuvenation. This is dependent on the specifics of your plan and should be discussed with your insurance provider before being relied on as a method of payment.

At the Centre for Aesthetic & Reconstructive Surgery, we offer a range of payment options, including blepharoplasty financing through CareCredit® and United Medical Credit. During your initial consultation, we would be happy to discuss these options in more detail.

Upper Facial Rejuvenation

While there are several cosmetic benefits offered by eyelid surgery, it has its limitations as well. Issues such as crow’s feet, drooping eyebrows, or frown lines (in between the eyebrows) will not be addressed by blepharoplasty. These issues can, however, be corrected through a combination of procedures that can be performed in conjunction with an eye lift.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is an effective option for forehead creases, frown lines, and sagging eyebrows, while dermal fillers can be used to fill in the hollows underneath the eyes as well as areas of sunken skin surrounding the eyes. The best way to learn which of these treatments will be most complimentary to your eyelid lift is through a one-on-one consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon.
